Laurie D. Arnold is a contract attorney with Powell Coleman & Arnold LLP. Prior to re-entering private practice in 2018, Laurie was General Counsel for two national real estate investors/developers overseeing legal and regulatory matters related to company investments, real estate portfolios and operations. From 1997 through mid-2006, Laurie practiced law in Austin, Texas where she focused on commercial real estate, business transactions and insurance regulatory matters primarily on behalf of a large religious organization, a state-chartered bank, and clients in the private equity sphere.

During her 20 plus years of practice, Laurie has primarily represented entrepreneurs, developers, owners, health care companies, tenants, borrowers, and other real estate investors and business owners in a wide array of real estate and business transactions and general counsel services. Her experience includes the sale and acquisition of real property and operating companies, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts (including construction contracts, office and retail leases, management agreements, easements, and other agreements related to development, construction and mortgage lending), forming business entities for investment in real property as well as handling day to day legal matters that arise in the ordinary course of business for business owners and operating companies.

Laurie received her B.A. with Highest Honors from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1994, and her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1997. She is a Sustaining Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association, the Urban Land Institute, and the UT Dallas Institute for Excellence in Corporate Governance. She is also a long-time active member of Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Dallas [and previously a member of CREW Austin] and currently serves as a Director of CREW Dallas and a Trustee of CREW in the Community Foundation.

In 2010, Laurie was selected by an expert panel of judges consisting of CEOs, general counsels, and others as “Best Corporate Counsel” in the Dallas Business Journal and in 2011, named by the Association of Corporate Counsel and D CEO as “Outstanding Chief Legal Officer or General Counsel – Solo”. In December 2012, CREW Dallas recognized Laurie with the organization’s highest award, the “Outstanding Achievement Award,” which honors members for achievement and excellence in career, professional distinction, industry peer recognition, service to the community, and involvement within CREW Dallas and CREW Network.
