Michael L. McCoy
Michael L. McCoy has been a partner in the law firm of Powell Coleman & Arnold LLP since September of 2004. From January of 2001 through June of 2004, Mr. McCoy was with Lend Lease Real Estate Investments, Inc., where he last served as acting general counsel. While with Lend Lease, Mr. McCoy was responsible for overseeing the legal support for the real estate lending activities of Lend Lease, including its Fannie Mae DUS™ and Freddie Mac multifamily lending areas, as well as its mezzanine and structured finance programs. Mr. McCoy also served on the Lend Lease commercial loan approval and risk management committees and was a director of Lend Lease Rosen Real Estate Securities, LLC, a registered investment advisor specializing in REIT securities.
Prior to joining Lend Lease, Mr. McCoy served as general counsel, senior vice president and secretary for AMRESCO Capital Trust, a publicly traded REIT, was associated with the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, L.L.P. and was an Associate General Counsel with AMRESCO, INC. and its predecessors, including NationsBank of Texas, N.A. Throughout his career Mr. McCoy has been involved in sophisticated and cutting-edge transactions in the areas of commercial finance and commercial real estate, including being involved with establishing one of the first conduits for securitized mortgage loans.
Mr. McCoy received his B.B.A (with Highest Honors) from the University of Texas at Austin in 1978 and his J.D. (with Honors) from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981, where he was Order of the Coif. From 1981 to 1982, he served as a law clerk to the Hon. Robert M. Hill, United States District Judge for the Northern District of Texas. After his service with Judge Hill, he entered private practice with the firm of Carrington, Coleman, Sloman & Blumenthal, and was later a director with the law firm of Baker, Mills, & Glast, P.C.
